Friday, November 9th

Tom grew up in Fillmore, California and since we were fairly close to there we took Friday to visit his old stomping ground. His dad worked on a fish hatchery and they lived at a house on the fish hatchery. When we arrived the secretary at the fish hatchery gave us a bucket full of fish food and Zac and Abbi loved feeding the fish. Amazingly enough they emptied the bucket. Tom enjoyed reminiscing and noticing things that had changed.

After that visit we headed to Zuma beach in Malibu. We had been looking for a nice beach to visit close to the area and on a message board had found Zuma beach. Someone had said they liked it because it was clean and they saw dolphins in the water. So we thought we'd give it a try. We weren't really expecting to see dolphins but we did. They were several groups of them not far from the beach that you could see swimming in the water. It was really fun to see. The kids found lots of sea shells. Even ones that had live clams in them. And on a side note, several days later those live clams died, in a bag, on a counter in my home and a counter in my mom's home. You wouldn't believe the stench that came from them. Don't tell Zac and Abbi that their sea shells aren't around anymore. But we loved the beach once again. We tried not to get as wet or sandy, but that wasn't possible.

Looks like fun! we were just talking last night with some friends who told us you never go to the beach intending to not get wet, it's inevitable. I guess they're right!
