The birds weren't eaten

So our baby birds hatched and the cat never got to them. Well, while they were in our yard at least. Last week while Tom was working in the garden the baby birds came dropping (not really flying) out of their nest. One landed in the window well below and the other landed in the garden. Abbi came in and got me to bring the camera. Zac was at school so he missed the excitement. The birds really couldn't fly though. It was more just a flutter of their wings. So Tom decided it was best to put them back in their nest. I wasn't so sure about that, messing with mother nature and their natural instincts. So he tried putting them back as you see here.Abbi even got to pet them but the birds weren't so fond of us messing with them. The mother and father bird were going crazy flying around and chirping thinking their babies were in danger. But they weren't staying and just jumped right back out. Maia (our dog) kept chasing them and at one point I thought she was going to eat one. The neighbors must have thought we were being attacked because of my screams. I was a little protective of my baby birds. So after they jumped ship again we tried hiding them in our bushes. I was really worried about a cat getting them. But they just hopped away. It was just a few minutes later one was in the middle of the road. We left to go get Zac at school and when we got back the other one was on the side of the road. Zac went over to him and was able to pet him but finally he hopped away too. Hopefully they survived after that. Bye bye birdies.
