When Blake was 10 days old we had to put our labrador retriever Maia to sleep. She was almost 13 years old and had cancer. It was a sad time for all of us as she had been around all our kid's lives and was such a part of our family. I knew with a newborn I couldn't handle a new dog so we waited to get a one. Well, after awhile the kids kept asking, Tom kept asking and I knew we needed to get one. We looked on ksl for a month or so trying to find the right dog. We decided on a goldendoodle because they don't shed (well most of them) and we wanted the happy characteristics of a golden retriever which are similar to a lab. So meet Molly-
We picked her up from a breeder in Tooele. Her mom is a goldendoodle and her dad is a mini goldendoodle so she's actually a second generation goldendoodle (which means less likely to shed:)) She was the runt of the litter so we're hoping she'll end up closer to her dad's weight of 30 pounds. With 5 kids I can't imagine a bigger dog running around in our already squished house.
After picking her up she whined and cried quite a bit. The breeder had given us a very stinky blanket her mother and siblings had been sleeping with so we put that in with her.
At home the kids were thrilled to have her. She really loves to be held and the kids love holding her.
We let her meet Blake too but not for long. She climbed all over him and licked him everywhere. He just laid there not really sure what was going on. Since then we've had to keep her away from him as she just goes right to his mouth and licks inside his mouth. She's fond of the taste of milk
She's definitely a people dog. Tom quite likes her too.
We have been crate training her and put her in the crate at night. The first few nights were horrible as she whined and cried almost the whole night. She did not like it. I thought we might go crazy! She was waking up everyone all night long! After a few nights we were able to put her in the crate all night without whining or even needing to wake up. Thank goodness. In the meantime she's quite a handful.
One day we couldn't find where she was and I found her here-
She thinks she should be just like Blake.
I kicked her out of both chairs though. She's not a baby. Although she gets treated like one a lot.
Tom even blow dryed her hair one day after a bath.
I think her likes her.
She's definitely a puppy and likes to play. She wasn't so fond of the bowling pins the first time she saw them.
We just won't dwell on the fact that she's a pain in the behind A LOT. She pees and poops on our floor. We've been through two bottles of nature's miracle odor and stain remover. We probably should just order a gallon container. We've had to put a baby gate down to our family room and another one is coming to put between our kitchen and living room. She enjoys crawling under our couches and finding treasures. She barely fits so I don't know why she likes it. She likes to chew too, of course. One day we left her alone downstairs for 15 minutes and she chewed a hole in the carpet! That would be the need for the other baby gate. So we got some bitter apple spray to spray on things (like carpet) that she wants to chew. Too bad we can't just cover the whole carpet with it! She has a bunch of toys but prefers shoes and water bottles. At least it helps keep things of the floor, right? Some days I wonder what we've gotten ourselves into! Somehow we'll survive this puppy stage!

She is so cute! All that work sounds like no fun but at least you waited until Blake was older and you will have great memories to talk about.
Molly in the Bumbo--hilarious! :)
